Recently, the list of winners for the Ningbo Science and Technology Progress Award 2023 was announced. Several projects led by enterprises in the Qianwan New Area, Ningbo, won one first prize, two second prizes, and one third prize, which is the best result over the years. The Sichain Semiconductor, the Geely Automobile, the Fotile, Vremt and so on are included on the list, striving for technological breakthroughs around core issues in fields such as electronic information, automobile manufacturing, and smart household electrical appliances and so on.

As one of the main completion units, the Sichain Semiconductor (Ningbo) Co., Ltd. has won the first prize of the Ningbo Science and Technology Progress Award 2023 for its application of "Key Technologies and Applications for Efficient and Reliable Conversion and Grid Control of Distributed Photovoltaic Storage Inverters". It is reported that the project has solved many bottlenecks in the promotion and implementation of photovoltaic power generation through joint innovation and research in the photovoltaic and energy storage industrial chain, effectively improving energy utilization efficiency, driving the development of the photovoltaic and energy storage inverter industry, and providing a national production solution for photovoltaic storage inverter systems and distributed power stations to achieve the dual carbon goal, with significant social and economic benefits.

The automobile industry is located at the top of the "pyramid" of the "134" industrial system and is a pillar industry in the Qianwan New Area. For many years, the New Area has focused on the transformation of achievements in the automobile industry, continuously optimized the layout of research and development forces for complete vehicles and key components, promoted the sharing of research and development verification and inspection equipment, and promoted collaborative innovation through the integration of industry, education, and research. Half of the award-winning projects this time focus on breakthroughs in key core technologies in the automobile industry. Among them, the "Development and Application of Intelligent Automotive Electronic and Electrical Architecture" project submitted by the Ningbo Geely Automobile Research and Development Co., Ltd. and other units won the second prize, while the "Key Technology and Industrialization of Tunnel-type Ultra high Specific Energy Plug in Hybrid Battery" project jointly submitted by the Vremt Electric Vehicle Technology (Ningbo) Co., Ltd. and the Ningbo Geely Automobile Research and Development Co., Ltd. won the third prize.

As a leading enterprise in the domestic kitchen appliance industry, the Fotile continues to be at the forefront of innovation. The "Key Technology and Industrialization of Oil Fume Separation and Purification for Health and Environmental Protection" project led by Fotile won the second prize of the Ningbo Science and Technology Progress Award. This project aims to address the technical challenges of efficiently separating and purifying oil fumes generated by Chinese cooking, as well as their potential impact on air quality and human health. It has established a green and low-carbon treatment technology system for cooking pollutants, covering the entire process from "oil fume characteristics - efficient suction and exhaust - long-term purification - systematic treatment", effectively solving the pain points in the development of the kitchen appliance industry. Qianwan has been taking the lead in the science and technology innovation track. Over the years, the New Area has continuously strengthened "0-1" innovation and key "bottleneck" technological breakthroughs, increased investment in science and technology, and issued the "Implementation Opinions of Ningbo Qianwan New Area on Accelerating the Development of Science and Technology Innovation". Through mechanism innovation, platform construction, enterprise cultivation, talent incentives, and achievement transformation, it has worked together to create a "strong magnetic field" for science and technology innovation. The latest data shows that in 2023, the R&D investment of the entire society in the Qianwan New Area exceeded the 5 billion yuan for the first time, with an average growth rate of nearly 30% in the past three years. The intensity of R&D investment has been increasing year by year, continuously leveraging the technological innovation momentum of Qianwan.
